Two factual errors in the story, one bigger than the other. Report says 50 people. I counted between 60 and 65. Report also says executive salaries at the U of Minnesota have been cut. To the best of my knowledge that’s not true. Rather, there has been a freeze placed on pay raises. A freeze in pay raises could be interpreted as a pay cut, if one takes inflation and real wages into account, but if we think of it that way then graduate employees have had their pay cut too.
