The music posts will continue until morale increases. Or not.
I made up a game of blog tag. Might be more than one actually.
Here it is:
I. List 5 bands you’d like to have another album by (this could be because they reform, or because you get a time machine and get them to write another album at a certain moment, or because someone finds a previously undiscovered recording).
II. Pick some bands you’d like to go back in time and see and/or re-form and play in the present. Specify which you mean.
III. Assemble a supergroup, or a collaboration a la the Judgment Night soundtrack or Temple of the Dog, give 1-3 adjectives to describe the sound but no more than 1-3
IV. Ask someone else or several someones else to do the same.
Not much of a game, really, but I do what I want.
Here’s my lists.
I. Albums
1. Jawbreaker
2. Jawbox
3. Screeching Weasel (from any of these eras, in order - My Brain Hurts, Anthem, Wiggle)
4. Jets to Brazil
5. Sludgeworth
II. Play live (all of mine are time machine, not re-form)
1. Ramones
2. Clash
3. Jawbreaker (Bivouac era)
4. Bikini Kill
5. Refused
III. Supergroups or collaborations
1. Dan from the Methadones, Chris from the Lawrence Arms, Blake from Jawbreaker/Jets to Brazil, John from the Weakerthans - smart plaintive rock
2. Squarepusher and Nasum - complicated blistering drillngrind
3. Johnny Cash with Social Distortion as his backing band - punky country that doesn’t suck (this may look like it’s more than 3 adjectives but it’s not because “that doesn’t suck” is an adjectival phrase)
4. Fugazi and Massive Attack - textured, moody, crescendo-laden
5. Utah Phillips, Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, Bon Jovi, the Weakerthans, and the International Noise Conspiracy - working class anthems with brains, a beat, and a long memory (okay I totally cheated on that one, but it would be so awesome)
And now I declare “tag, you’re it” to the following folk:
Jim, Negatron at the UN, Mike, Eli, Wildly, and the Free Association (yes, all of you in the FA, and you have to agree). Matt, I was gonna pick you too but I can’t access your blog anymore for some reason.

I should own up, this game, especially part III, was actually Angelica’s idea.
