I’m not crying… or if I am crying, it’s ‘cause I’m cutting onions… I’m making a lasagne… lasagne for one…

Seriously I’m glad the show has done well over there… the Conchords are from my home town. Conchord mania has now overtaken NZ and I got much Conchord merchandise for Xmas. I wrote about them a while back: http://scandalum.wordpress.com/2007/06/15/the-beginning/

hi Mike,
Thanks for the link. That’s cool they’re from yours - local kids made good kind of thing. I know punk bands like that, it’s a nice feeling (perhaps oddly?). I think their stuff is fantastically funny, with the right combo of elements - by turns smart, juvenile, awkward, etc. It’s really good stuff. I like it so much it’s made me start to consider taking a class locally, intro to doing stand-up. I also think they’re pretty good musicians - better than me anyway. We don’t get new TV at mine, just DVDs. A friend had mentioned conchords in passing over the holidays but we were drunk or walking somewhere, anyway it was in the middle of something where I wasn’t really paying attention so I didn’t get what he was talking about. Then on New Years my wife worked (baby sat) and I went along. We were flipping through the TV and saw it listed and were like “oh that’s that thing Tim mentioned…”, turns out it was a marathon. We watched it for like 4 hours. Now we’ve seen the rest on DVD. It’s fabulous stuff.
I heard Jemaine Clement made a movie as well, a martial arts one. I watched a clip on Youtube.
I like the bit in the racism episode, where they realize the guy has been mistaking them for aussies and they unite around common dislike.
take care,
Nate

Hey Nate
have you seen Nathan Barley? ? Maybe immaterial labour isn’t so revolutionary after all?
