hey y'all,
So I started off saying this as a joke. "Hey Nate, how are you?" I'm fucking stressed is how I am, and really tired. So I say "I am a model of equanimity and poise" cuz I think that's both a funny phrase and a funny thing to say when I feel so tense and tired. But then, see, I feel crappy so I make a small joke. And people generally laugh when I say the phrase cuz it's a mildly funny phrase (or maybe they're being polite) and since they laugh a little I laugh a little and that feels good. So the phrase makes me a little more like what it is. And then I start telling people this story, and I add "if I say it enough times maybe I'll start to believe it." And all of that actually makes me feel more poised and equanimi- ... -cious? -cal? -rific? (I dunno. That word, whatever it is.) As does joking about it on this blog.
