… am I a model of?

Equanimity and poise. Equanimity and poise.

Seriously. I’m calm as a calm thing from calm town that just got seriously stoned on calmweed with the calmest kids in school while some soothing-ass music plays as I get a backrub while laying on a soft blanket at the beach when the waves roll in gently and the sky turns pink and purple and orange from sunset and everything is just so perfect in the world. I am so fucking calm it’s like creepy do you hearwhat the fuck I’m saying? Not to mention cool and collected. I’m cool and collected as shit. I’m like a fucking binder full of plastic sleeves of alphabetized vintage mint condition baseball cards kept on ice in the fucking freezer.

Equanimity and poise. Equanimity and poise.

  6. hey y’all,
So I started off saying this as a joke. “Hey Nate, how are you?” I’m fucking stressed is how I am, and really tired. So I say “I am a model of equanimity and poise” cuz I think that’s both a funny phrase and a funny thing to say when I feel so tense and tired. But then, see, I feel crappy so I make a small joke. And people generally laugh when I say the phrase cuz it’s a mildly funny phrase (or maybe they’re being polite) and since they laugh a little I laugh a little and that feels good. So the phrase makes me a little more like what it is. And then I start telling people this story, and I add “if I say it enough times maybe I’ll start to believe it.” And all of that actually makes me feel more poised and equanimi- … -cious? -cal? -rific? (I dunno. That word, whatever it is.) As does joking about it on this blog.
