of this blog? I know Colin knows.
I know, but I know the owner of this currently minimalist endeavor so that’s cheating and besides - though it is part of the enabling conceit of this space - answering my own question would be kinda stupid.
Obscure hints which won’t help:
1. Four F’s.
2. When it pains it roars.
Of course, if you know those, you already know the reference.

Do I get to answer, or should I wait for some other folks to give it a shot?
Or, can I leave another clue:
Fun–>Breaking your heart

“If I’m having fun, then it’s breaking your heart… besides, you said I could have it.”

hi Colin,
You can of course answer, but isn’t it funner to trade quotes? “I went to a party last night, what sick things I saw,” that characterizes the state I get into all too often, and not because I’m going to parties full of make out sessions and bicycle messengers, punks and art school drop-outs. It would however do me well to run into someone I knew but hadn’t seen in years.
take care,
Nate

Why is it always like this? Either you’re too mean or you’re too nice.

Okay I get it now. Babblesmasher.
I saw them at the Metro in Chicago on the Monsters of Jaw tour with Jawbox. One of my favorite punk rock memories is looking at the side of the stage and those three were standing there - this is during Jawbox’s set, while Jawbox did “capillary life” which I hadn’t heard before - and they were watching and sing along with the “is it too late?” refrain. I very briefly met Jay Robbins at a Burning Airlines show at the Fireside Bowl and told him this. He pretended to wipe a tear from his eye, nodded his head, said “thank you very much for telling me that” and shook my hand. That’s one of my other favorite punk rock memories (a two-fer, like a cover song — which reminds me, at that same show Jawbox’s encore was “cornflake girl,” which at the time was wicked awesome).
