Six Arrested, Jail Solidarity, 30,000 Dollar Bail for Dance Party

At least 6 arrested at a zombie themed dance party at nicollet light rail station sat. Bail set at 30,000.00 each. charged with simultation of weapons of mass destruction for dancing to homemade radios.

A zombie theme dance party sporting homemade radios at the nicollet mall light rail station on sat. night was disrupted by police. At least 6 people have been charged with simlulation of a weapon of mass destruction, inlcuding one minor. THier bail is set at 30,000.00 each.

We will be holding a jail solidarity event at 9 am MON.. morning at the hennepin county jail at 400 s. 5th st.
The people that we know are arrested are Christian Utne, Raphi Rechitski, Jaime Lee JOnes, Kate Kibby, and her brother “bean” (Kyle), and Jake.

Please try to show up and make a sign or banner stating that dance parties are not terrorism or something of the kind.

This is specifically a solidarity event, non-violent, and shying from confrontation with the police, as we dont want to give the prosecution any ammunition if they attempt to follow through with the charges.

Hopefully thier courtdate will be on tuesday, as of yet the police will not give us a time or date. It will be noted on this listserve as soon as it is known. Please try to show tomorrow as the police may schedule the date from early morning. Also, any information on other arrestees iis welcome. NLG is also needed as soon as possible if anyone has contacts.

Another friend did a bit of research, here’s the crime. (Via.) They’ve yet to be really charged, so we’ll see. If they get actually charged with this it could be pretty hairy.

609.712 Real and simulated weapons of mass destruction.

(c) “Simulated weapon of mass destruction” means any device, substance, or object that by its design, construction, content, or characteristics, appears to be or to contain, or is represented to be, constitute, or contain, a weapon of mass destruction, but that is, in fact, an inoperative facsimile, imitation, counterfeit, or representation of a weapon of mass destruction that does not meet the definition of a weapon of mass destruction or that does not actually contain or constitute a weapon, biological agent, toxin, vector, or delivery system prohibited by this section.

Subd. 4. Simulated weapons of mass destruction; penalty. Whoever manufactures, acquires, possesses, or makes readily accessible to another a simulated weapon of mass destruction with the intent of terrorizing another may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than ten years or to payment of a fine of not more than $20,000, or both.
