Translation sounds great, though I'm not sure about living on it. Arianna and Matteo have translated various Negri, who's a relative hit of the moment, and I'm under the impression they've not had the easiest time making a living on that.

Being an academic is the plan for the moment, hoping to end up teaching Argentine novels some day. The job market is shit, though, and it's an industry with very low union density and tremendously variable conditions, all of which makes me doubtful as to the long term advisability of that route. And I don't want to be in the US if at all possible.

If all else fails I may try to become a plumber or hair stylist, as I think those would help me move to the UK or Australia, respectively. A friend of a friend permanently moved from Chicago to Manchester not too long ago, as a tattoo artist. Unfortunately that won't work out for me.

I think the Bush government has cut the "give money to poor white people so they can make babies" programs, in order to focus more resources on the killing of brown people and on more directly encouraging the breeding of wealthier whites.

what about being an academic(-translator)? my main objection to academia is that it would likely involve moving to the United States, but you already live there.

can't angelica get some kind of funding to have kids as part of her professional training?
